Upholstery – Dry Cleaning

Dry-cleaning is a technique that is important in certain situations but seldom needed or used. If you are to be an expert upholstery cleaner working in “high-end” situations, you will need to know about dry-cleaning.

Some situations where it may be necessary are:
1. Where shrinkage cannot be controlled in wet-cleaning.
2. Where fiber distortion is caused by wet-cleaning. Satin silk is an example of fabric that is prone to this.
3. Water rings. Again, satin silk and other satin fabrics may show water rings when wet-cleaned.
4. Bleeding that cannot be controlled in wetcleaning. This is almost non-existent since the introduction of Dye-Loc.
